On Tour - Al Ain
By Ralph Ridge
In late January a small band of South
African’s boarded a flight to
the United Arab Emirates.
It was bound to the Al Ain air show
and after being invited it was time
to show what could be done in front
of the world's best.
The SA Wizards had five days before
the show to practise. Four planes doing
some incredible manoeuvres with the
double inverted skydive to cap off the
routine.
Ralph Ridge and Ricci Bucceri did ten double inverted jumps over a nine day period – exit altitude was an average 1,800ft, and after deployment still had to drop the 25 metre long streamers and land in front of the sheikh.
It was an amazing time with a great group of professionals. Thanks to all of them for making this jump possible and the organisers of the air show who went beyond all to make our stay a memorable occasion.
